Who Are You?

We’re SummerScribe, an independent scholarship writing center.

We help students turn personal stories into scholarship-winning essays.

First, let's answer a few questions that you probably have about us:

Is this worth my time?

Is this worth my effort?

And most importantly...

Is this worth my money?

If you are ready to stop writing as if you're asking for permission to tell your own story, then you are in the right place. Winning essays have confidence and intrigue, and empathy. We focus on crafting an amazing essay, not abstract theories about sentence structure.

Improving those skills is always worth the time and effort. But this isn't just about being a good college student; it is about paying for college. Great stories win scholarships. Full stop.

Now for the important question. Is this worth the money?

What you really want to know is "can you actually help me?"

Writing is all about showing, not telling.

Instead of just selling you a program, we are offering you our philosophies and strategies for FREE.

Our scholarship essay guide, Essays On Easy Mode, is FREE to download.

Read it. If it helps you, great. If it wasn't what you were looking for, we sincerely thank you for giving us a shot. But if you need extra help, that is what the SummerScribe program is designed to do.

If you can find $500, we can find the core of your story. We edit essays in live online sessions and offer personalized feedback at the end. Win one scholarship, and it pays for itself.

What You'll Learn

Write to Get Paid

This isn’t school. This is a hustle. Your story is worth money. And you’re about to learn how to cash in.

Think Like a Judge
Most readers skim. Scholarship judges scan 300 essays before lunch. We’ll teach you how to make them stop, blink, and actually care.

Nail the Opening Line
Boring intros get tossed. You’ll lead with emotion, voice, and the kind of line that makes them forget they’re grading.

Rewrite Like a Pro
One draft won’t cut it. But one rewrite can change everything. We show you in real time how to do it. And we even give you a final edit for good measure.

Make a Statement

For all the reasons above, a winning essay is the one they can't ignore. We show you how to be the right kind of different.

Pay for The Program

If you like what you've read but still want hands-on help, reserve a spot in one of our live online classes. These aren’t your typical essay-writing sessions.

Students get a real scholarship prompt before class and submit a draft (kept anonymous from peers). During your first two-hour session, we pull a few examples and rewrite them live, using the methods from Essays on Easy Mode.

Each student also receives the SummerScribe revision workbook, which walks you through the same rewriting process we use in class. Students use it to revise the first draft, but the process is designed for application to any future scholarship essays.

We meet again the next day for another two-hour session to review revisions, answer questions. This time we delve deeper into tackling structure, story, and tone. After both classes, every student receives personalized written feedback within 1 week of class ending.

The program includes:

  • 2 live 2-hour editing sessions

  • Real scholarship prompts and draft submissions

  • Live essay rewrites and strategy breakdowns

  • The SummerScribe revision workbook

  • Personalized written feedback on your draft within a week of class

The program is $500 per student. We understand this can be pricey for some, but we pride ourselves on being worth the cost. Private editing can often cost hundreds of dollars per draft. Our program gives several editing examples, allows you to ask questions from a real college writing professor, and includes draft feedback all in one package. Plus, every enrollment supports InkShield Initiative’s ability to provide free literacy education to adults in need.

Bi-weekly we offer a weekend cohort (Sat/Sun afternoon) or a mid-week cohort (Tue/Wed). Each is limited to 12 students so everyone gets real feedback.

Still have a few questions? We occasionally host live information sessions.

Our Founder/Instructor

I’m Professor Brandt. I’m an English professor, scholarship coach, and literacy nerd who wears silly ties and fedoras. That’s because I have a simple philosophy.

I don't take myself seriously. I take writing seriously.

And when you're begging for money, standing out matters. I’ve helped students earn thousands by ditching formulas and leaning into real story structure and strategy. No 5-paragraph nonsense here.

We lead with heart and hope.

If you’re burned out, broke, or tired of playing the game wrong, you have come to the right place.

4.9 out of 5 on RateMyProfessors
Real students. Real results. Consistently rated as one of the most helpful and engaging instructors.

Years of experience helping students win real money

Not theory. Strategy that works. I’ve helped students earn thousands through essays that actually sound like them.

This is part of a bigger mission
Yes, this is a paid program. But every dollar goes back into our nonprofit focused on adult literacy and educational access.
This isn’t just a job. It’s the work I care about most.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this for?
High school and college students who are applying for scholarships and want to actually win them. If you've got a story and a deadline, you're in the right place.

What does it cost?

The book is free. That is available above. We offer online videos. We occasionally host free scholarship crash courses. But for those who need it the live editing intensive is $500. The live intensive, however, has numerous advantages over the other options.

Do I have to show up if I sign up for the live intensive?
Yes. The class works because students watch the editing process and participate when needed. Questions are also allowed during every session.

What if I can’t finish the essay during the class?
Feedback is provided after the class has concluded. Students have 48 hours from the last session to provide us with a copy of their paper. We return said paper within a week. You can always contact us. This is our policy, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Is this just for English majors or strong writers?
Not even close. This is for anyone and everyone who wants to tell their story better. We teach strategy, not perfection.

Is this really a nonprofit?
Sort of. It is connected to our nonprofit organization, InkShield Initiative, a nonprofit focused on adult literacy and educational access. As such we offer free options. The live intensive, however, is a paid product we use as a funding source. It is not tax-deductible. But all proceeds go to InkShield Initiative. You're helping yourself and someone else at the same time.

What’s the refund policy?
You must cancel one hour before the first online class to receive a full refund. If you fail to meet us live, we do not promise refunds, but are willing to accommodate on a case-by-case basis.
